Alexander Garbar, COO Infra- and Suprastructure of the HGK AG -
The HGK Group is reorganising its management structure on 1 October 2026. It will strengthen the integrated management of its logistics operations, the on- going development of infra- and suprastructure activities – and set the course for fur- ther international growth.
HGK is using the reorganisation process to respond to a dynamic market environment, to changes in flows of goods – and to increasing demands for resilient, sustainable and high- performance supply chains. The goal is to dovetail HGK’s areas of expertise more closely, shorten decision-making processes and provide customers with even more comprehensive support along their transport and value-added chains. Two experienced managers in the shape of Alexander Garbar and Günter-Friedrich Maas are taking over COO responsibilities in the new management structure on 1 October 2026.
“We’re using the new management structure to create the basis for the next development phase at HGK. It’s our objective to continue developing HGK into an even more strongly in- tegrated, resilient and technology-driven logistics group. We want to expand our position as a leading intermodal logistics service provider along the river Rhine corridor, strengthen Co- logne as an international hub and high-performance gateway to the seaports and, at the same time, tap into fresh potential along our customers’ value-added chains,” says Steffen Bauer, the CEO of HGK AG, explaining the developments.

HGK AG as the strategic holding company
As the strategic holding company, HGK AG will in future concentrate on the overall man-
agement and ongoing development of the HGK Group. The Executive Board with Steffen
Bauer as its CEO and Susanne Pietsch as its CFO is responsible for the Group-wide orientation, the development of portfolios as well as the key underlying conditions for the individual companies.

Beneath the strategic holding company, the operational activities are pooled in two divisions:
- ● Integrated Logistics
- ● Infra- and Suprastructure
This structure forms the basis for the market- and performance-oriented organisation of the companies with clear responsibilities. It will strengthen the level of cooperation within the HGK Group and enable integrated management of the business activities.

Integrated Logistics Division
The three strategic business segments involving Transport Solutions, Contract Logistics So- lutions and Intermodal Solutions are being combined in the Integrated Logistics Division. They particularly include the areas of expertise in shipping, railway freight traffic, intermodal operations, terminals, warehousing, contract (third-party) logistics, as well as the overseas and seaport business.
-

Tim Gödde, SVP Technical Services of the HGK AG -
The Integrated Logistics Division will be supervised by a Management Board. In addition to the three COOs of the strategic business segments, Markus Krämer is taking over the mar- ket- and customer-oriented management of the division as the CCO. Christian Möhrmann is responsible for the financial management and performance support for the division as the Senior Vice President (SVP) Finance. Tim Gödde is taking over responsibility for the tech- nical services and their ongoing development as the SVP Technical Services.

Günter-Friedrich Maas, COO Contract Logistics of the HGK AG -
Günter-Friedrich Maas is taking over the position of COO Contract Logistics and the role of COO Intermodal Solutions on a temporary basis. He has had more than 25 years of experi- ence in the international transport and logistics sector. He has held various management positions at well-known international logistics companies, including VTG, Hoyer, Rhenus, Imperial and Boasso. In these roles, he has strategically developed companies and business divisions in rail, tank container, chemical and industrial logistics, to name just a few, and made them fit to face the future.
Infra- and Suprastructure Division
The Infra- and Suprastructure Division encompasses the ports, real estate, network and lo- comotive workshop business areas. It forms the infrastructural basis for the logistics busi- ness at HGK and is also closely related to Cologne and the region as well as HGK’s public mandate and responsibilities for infrastructure as a company with its roots in the local com- munity.
Alexander Garbar is taking over responsibility for this division as COO Infra- and Suprastruc- ture on 1 October 2026. In this role, he will be responsible for the strategic and operational development of these four pillars, with a focus on the Cologne site. One especially important element in his assignment will involve the ongoing strategic development of these business areas in Cologne.
Alexander Garbar has had many years of experience in port development, infrastructure and logistics. He has helped shape and develop the structures at the Port of Duisburg for many years as a proven strategist.
Strategic goals: resilient, intermodal and future-oriented
HGK is using the new management structure to create the organisational basis for its further strategic development. The central focus will involve making supply chains more resilient through the deliberate ongoing development of assets and doing the same for the infrastruc- ture and suprastructure. At the same time, HGK will also expand its position as a leading intermodal logistics partner along the river Rhine – by connecting rail, shipping and terminal services as well as developing Cologne into a high-performance hinterland hub and an inter- national logistics centre.
HGK is also aiming to consistently tap into business potential along its customers’ value- added chains – particularly in providing warehousing and value-added services. HGK will actively help shape the transformation of energy towards sustainable and decarbonised solu- tions, among other things, in the fields of hydrogen and CO2. At the same time, the Group will accelerate its digital development and position itself as an AI-supported, internationally com- petitive logistics group.
“The Group has a solid regional base, an international orientation and an organisation that is fit for the future – this guiding principle connects HGK’s public mandate with its aspiration to develop competitive and sustainable solutions for customers and partners as an integrated logistics group,” says Steffen Bauer.
