Bunge and ABP Reach One Million Metric Tonnes Milestone at Immingham

Bunge and Associated British Ports announced that they have handled more than one million metric tonnes of grains and oilseeds through their agribulk storage and handling operations at the Port of Immingham since their partnership began in 2022.
Through the combination of ABP’s port infrastructure and Bunge’s global sourcing, processing, merchandising and logistics network, the operation helps supply agricultural commodities to customers across the UK and connect local growers to global markets.
The collaboration began in 2022 with the commissioning of Shed 35, a purpose-built agribulk storage facility at Immingham’s Humber International Terminal. Following strong demand, Bunge and ABP expanded the operation with the development of Shed 36, increasing the site’s total storage capacity to approximately 75,000 tonnes and creating one of the Humber region’s largest agribulk handling hubs.
“The UK’s agriculture sector depends on strong connections between producers, consumers and international markets,” said James Maw, UK Country Manager, Bunge. “Through the Bunge and ABP joint operations at the Port of Immingham, the terminal handles imports of essential feed ingredients, including certified sustainable PRO-S soya meal and sunflower meal, and has also handled exports of feed wheat, malting barley, beans and rye. Together, these flows are part of Bunge’s integrated end-to-end value chains, providing greater transparency and traceability from origin to end market.”
Paul Litten, Head of Commercial (Humber) at ABP added, “Reaching the milestone of one million tonnes handled through our Humber International Terminal and Inner Dock for Bunge is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the strength of our longstanding partnership at the Port of Immingham. We’re proud to have supported Bunge’s growth, providing the deep-water facilities and expertise that helps keep our supply chains moving. We look forward to continuing to work with them as we support their future growth and ambitions.”
The milestone also underscores the important role ports and shipping networks play in supporting food security and reliable supply chains. ABP’s Port of Immingham is the UK’s largest port by volume of tonnage and is well placed to connect UK with international trade routes. The Humber International Terminal is one of the leading deep-water bulk handling facilities in the country and handles a range of commodities, including grain, biomass and other dry bulks.
As Bunge and ABP look to the future, both companies remain committed to supporting further growth at the facility, enhancing operational efficiency and meeting the evolving needs of UK growers and customers across the agriculture, feed and food sectors.
