Indian Register of Shipping grants type approval to Volteo Maritime’s Electronic Record Book – WAYSHIP

Indian Register of Shipping has issued type approval Certificate to WAYSHIP – Electronic Record Book developed by Volteo Maritime, marking an important milestone in the indigenisation of shipboard Digital record-keeping in India.
Electronic Record Books can help ship operators improve the accessibility, consistency and management of operational records, while reducing dependence on physical documentation. The product can be used for various statutory record keeping onboard ships such as Engine & Deck logbooks, Oil record book, Ballast water Record Book, Garbage record book and MARPOL Annex VI records (VOC, Fuel changeover, Nox Tier II/III switching records, EGCS). Their adoption can also support more efficient inspection, verification, data analysis and record-management processes.
The Type Approval Certificate was recently handed over to Mr Surendra Lingareddy, Founder & CEO, Volteo Maritime, at the IRS head office in Mumbai.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Tapesh Ghosh, HOD Type and Works Approval at IRS said, “The approval of Volteo Maritime’s Electronic Record Book is a significant step in supporting the adoption of digital technologies across the maritime sector. It also demonstrates the potential of Indian technology developers to create solutions that meet the requirements of the global maritime industry. IRS remains committed to supporting innovation while ensuring that new technologies meet appropriate standards of safety, reliability and compliance.”

Speaking on significance of IRS Type Approval, Mr. Surendra Lingareddy, Founder & CEO, Volteo Maritime said, “Record books and noon reports are ground zero for any shipping enterprise. Without that first step of moving them from paper to digital, every ambition beyond it, AI included, stays out of reach. 75% percent of the market still sees logbooks only through a compliance lens, but when that data is captured digitally, it becomes the foundation for APIs and AI that move the whole industry forward. With IRS approval, Wayship is now India’s own digital foundation for vessel operations, built at home and ready for the world”
The type approval of Volteo Maritime’s solution reinforces the growing role of digital technologies in transforming maritime operations and contributes to the development of an Indian maritime technology ecosystem.
