GTMaritime launches GT Connect to turn fleet communications into operational action

New maritime collaboration platform connects conversations with vessels, people, tasks and operational context, helping fleet teams improve visibility and accountability.
GTMaritime has launched GT Connect, a maritime collaboration platform designed to help vessel and shore teams turn operational communications into clear, accountable action.
Shipping companies depend on a constant flow of communication between vessels, fleet operations teams and technical departments. However, the work generated by those exchanges can become dispersed across email inboxes, documents, individuals and separate systems. This fragmentation can make it difficult to see what has been agreed, who owns the next step and whether an issue has been resolved.
At its core, GT Connect combines communications and team collaboration with structured operational tools, connecting communications directly with vessels, people, tasks, cases and documents. By bringing this information together in context, GT Connect can help teams cut through the volume of day-to-day communication, identify what matters, surface actions and keep work moving. Instead of piecing together the operational picture from individual inboxes and separate systems, teams have a shared understanding of what is happening, what needs attention and what needs to happen next.

GT Connect originated from an idea developed by Jamie Jones Managing Director of GTMaritime, drawing on his own maritime experience and understanding of the practical challenges faced by people working across vessel and shore environments.
As the concept developed, GTMaritime has worked closely with maritime professionals and industry partners to validate the challenges GT Connect is designed to address and gather feedback on how the platform could fit into real-world workflows. That input has helped shape both the product available today and its future direction.
It started not with a piece of technology looking for a maritime application, but with a specific operational problem: how to prevent the context, ownership and actions arising from everyday fleet communications becoming fragmented across different people, inboxes and systems.
Jamie Jones, Managing Director of GTMaritime, explains: “GT Connect really started with a problem we kept coming back to. Maritime teams exchange a huge amount of operational information every day, but the conversation and the action that follows can easily become separated.
“Rather than starting with a technology and asking how it could be applied to shipping, we started with the operational problem and worked forward from there. GT Connect is about keeping the conversation connected to the people involved, the actions that need to happen and the wider operational context, so teams have a clearer view of what needs to happen next and who is responsible for it.”
The launch reflects a wider shift in maritime digitalisation. Technology has often focused on moving information between ship and shore, but operational teams also need ways to organise that information and act on it. Fleet and shore-based teams manage large volumes of communication and tasks across people, vessels and competing priorities; improving the context around each exchange can reduce the need to reconstruct events from multiple sources.
Developed specifically for shipping rather than adapted from a general office tool, GT Connect reflects the practical differences between fleet operations and shore-based workplaces, including variable vessel connectivity and the need to coordinate decisions across geographically dispersed teams.
Its initial focus is on connecting communications with structured operational activity. GTMaritime’s longer-term vision is to support increasingly connected workflows, collaboration and automation, while keeping development grounded in the realities of vessel operations.
GT Connect broadens the audience for GTMaritime’s technology, supporting collaboration across IT, technical, fleet operations and other vessel and shore-based teams. GT Connect is available now, marking the next step in GTMaritime’s ambition to help maritime teams communicate and collaborate more effectively across ship and shore.
