WISTA International has introduced a new Associate Membership category, opening its global network to maritime organisations that are unable to join through a National WISTA Association (NWA).

The new membership option is aimed at companies, institutions and other organisations that support WISTA’s work on gender diversity and inclusion but do not currently have access to an appropriate corporate membership through an NWA.

WISTA broadens access to global network

Associate Membership is available to organisations operating across shipping, ports, logistics, transport, trading, energy and related sectors. Applicants must demonstrate alignment with WISTA’s mission and have an active presence in at least two countries.

Approved organisations will be able to nominate up to three representatives to participate in NWA activities, extending access to WISTA’s international network.

“We are delighted to officially launch the WISTA International Associate Membership,” said Elpi Petraki, President of WISTA International.

Petraki said interest from organisations seeking to formally support WISTA has increased in recent years, while the existing structure did not always provide an appropriate corporate membership option.

Complimentary membership offered through 2026

The organisation said the new category is intended to strengthen collaboration with maritime companies and institutions while making participation in its international network more accessible.

As part of the launch, WISTA International is offering complimentary Associate Membership until the end of 2026 to eligible organisations that apply by 31 December 2026.
