When the Cyprus Diaspora Forum was established in 2024, its ambition was clear: to create a global platform that would unite Cypriots of the diaspora, friends of Cyprus and investors from around the world, connecting them with local talent, businesses and opportunities. The Forum was created to foster meaningful dialogue, strengthen relationships and unlock new pathways for collaboration, investment, entrepreneurship and sustainable growth, while encouraging the exchange of expertise, the attraction of global talent and the repatriation of Cypriots who wish to contribute to the future development and prosperity of their homeland.

From the very beginning, however, the success of such an ambitious initiative depended on the support of organisations that understood the wider strategic importance of connecting Cyprus with its global community.

The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) was the first organisation to recognise this potential and become an official supporter of the Forum. The involvement of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Pafos and Famagusta, have ensured that the Forum represents the entire Cypriot business community, highlighting opportunities and challenges across different regions and industries.

This collective participation reflects the Chamber’s national mandate: to represent, promote and strengthen Cyprus’ business environment while creating meaningful connections between local enterprises and international markets.

One of the most significant expressions of this shared commitment is the annual CYDIA Awards, where the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry presents the prestigious CCCI Entrepreneur Award.

The award celebrates successful entrepreneurs from the diaspora who have made a significant contribution to Cyprus’ economic development and international reputation.

Recipients are recognised for achievements including establishing or relocating business operations to Cyprus; maintaining strong and active commercial ties with Cyprus while operating overseas; or making a significant contribution to promoting Cyprus as a business destination and attracting foreign direct investment.

“The award reflects the Chamber’s belief that diaspora entrepreneurs are not simply representatives of Cyprus abroad—they are partners in shaping the country’s economic future,” Stavrou said.

“By recognising these individuals, the Chamber highlights the importance of entrepreneurship, innovation and international connectivity as drivers of national growth.”
