TecnoVeritas launches VERA at SMM 2026 voyage reporting from an accredited EU emissions verifier

The Voyage Efficiency Reporting Assistant brings voyage, fuel, cargo and environmental data into one browser- based workflow for passenger and cargo vessels. Its data can be verified in-house because TecnoVeritas has ISO 17029 and 14065 accreditations for EU MRV and FuelEU, and is independent of any classification society.
Hamburg, September 1st 2026 – TecnoVeritas today launches VERA (Voyage Efficiency Reporting Assistant) at SMM 2026 in Hamburg. VERA is a cloud-based software-as-a-service platform developed to support the collection, validation, management and analysis of operational and environmental vessel data. Accessible through a web browser, VERA enables onboard crews and shore-based fleet teams to organise voyage reporting in a centralised digital environment without local software installation.
Most reporting tools depend on a classification society for the verification step. VERA does not. TecnoVeritas is itself accredited as per ISO 17029 and 14065 to verify EU MRV and FuelEU data. Operators can record their data and have it verified through one company, without depending on their class society.
A voyage-centred reporting workflow
At the centre of VERA is the voyage module. Each voyage brings together sequential voyage legs and the related navigation, fuel consumption, bunkering, tank sounding, cargo and daily operational information. Historical reports remain available for later consultation, while the configuration module defines vessel data, consuming equipment, tanks, users and permissions.
The passenger-vessel edition is designed for cruise and ferry work, not adapted from a cargo product. It reports efficiency per passenger (EEOI), records passengers and crew on each leg, and logs fuel use by individual engine and boiler, together with onshore power, dynamic-positioning time, tugs and pilotage. Voyage and leg reporting, machinery data, bunkering, tank soundings and daily noon reports are all included. The cargo-vessel edition adds dedicated deck workflows for cargo-operation timeframes, work periods and breaks, cargo quantities and movements, alongside navigation, machinery and bunkering records.
PROPOSED QUOTATION – APPROVAL REQUIRED
“VERA takes work off the crew and gives fleet teams numbers they can rely on. The system will not issue a report until every consumable reconciles. And because TecnoVeritas is an accredited verifier, our clients can have their EU MRV and FuelEU data verified by us directly, without going through a classification society. Passenger and short-sea operators have had very little software built for the way they work, and that is who we built VERA for,” said Jorge Antunes, Founder, CEO & Technical Manager, TecnoVeritas.
Validation, reconciliation and controlled reporting
VERA applies role-based access control so that users can view, enter, edit, generate, accept, delete or regenerate information according to their assigned permissions. Mandatory fields, sequencing rules and checks for date and consumption inconsistencies help improve the coherence of records before reports are generated.
The bunkering workflow records planning data and the Bunker Delivery Note, then compares the quantity stated on the BDN with readings from the vessel’s flowmeters and quantities derived from tank soundings. The percentage deviation between the BDN and soundings is calculated automatically; when it exceeds 5%, a deviation comment is required before the report can be generated.
VERA reconciles remaining-on-board for every consumable, not only fuel but also lubricating oil, urea and fresh water, including water the ship makes at sea. When a measured quantity does not match the calculated figure, VERA adjusts it automatically. It also does the time-zone arithmetic: the platform holds data for more than 20,000 ports, so crews enter local clock times and VERA works out the rest.
Reports must be reviewed and accepted by authorised users. Once accepted, they are locked and automatically transmitted to BOEM for downstream analysis and compliance activities. Users with elevated permissions, such as a Technical Superintendent, can amend an accepted report when required, and accepted reports can be resent to BOEM.
Cloud delivery and regulatory data support
VERA is hosted in the cloud, and its database is backed up daily on servers in multiple locations. Browser-based access centralises information and reduces the risks associated with data dispersed across individual onboard computers or specific workstations.
The platform generates operational reports in PDF, including voyage, daily/noon, bunkering, sounding and cargo reports, as applicable to the vessel edition. CSV data export is available, while XML export is partially implemented and provides a basis for potential future compatibility with external platforms.
VERA organises voyage, fuel, emissions and energy data for EU MRV, EU ETS, and FuelEU Maritime.
Designed to evolve
VERA is designed to grow, and planned additions include automated data imports, wider external integrations, a more detailed history of data changes and expanded energy and environmental indicators.
Together, these capabilities provide passenger and cargo operators with a structured digital basis for collecting, checking, consolidating and using vessel data across onboard and shore-based reporting workflows.
TecnoVeritas is showing VERA at SMM 2026 in Hamburg, from 1 to 4 September, with live demonstrations on real cruise-vessel voyages.
