Seatrium achieve Industry-First Dual FPSO Sailaway, showcasing Turnkey Execution at Scale

- Poised for industry-first dual FPSO sailaway of P-80 and P-82, departing within weeks of each other
- Among the world’s largest FPSOs, P-80 and P-82 will add 450,000 barrels of oil per day, or 34% of production capacity to Brazil’s prolific Búzios field, with each vessel capable of producing 225,000 barrels of oil per day
Seatrium Limited is pleased to announce the impending sailaway of the PETROBRAS 80 and PETROBRAS 82 Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels, marking another significant milestone in its longstanding partnership with Brazil’s National Oil Company, Petróleo Brasileiro . Celebrated at a christening ceremony in Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard today, the two FPSOs are
1 among the largest ever built, with a scale capable of lifting Brazil’s national oil production by 10% .
P-80 and P-82 represent the 47th and 48th projects undertaken by Seatrium for Petrobras, building on a partnership spanning more than three decades. Following the sailaway of P-78 in 2025, these vessels are also the second and third turnkey FPSOs under the P-Series model commissioned by Petrobras to Seatrium, reflecting the evolution of the Group’s capabilities from repair and upgrade works, module fabrication, and FPSO integration to end-to-end execution of some of the world’s largest and most complex floating production assets.
The two vessels will soon set sail for the Búzios field in Brazil’s pre-salt Santos Basin, one of the world’s largest deepwater oil fields and one of Brazil’s most important oil producing assets. P-80 and P-82 are set to be the ninth and tenth FPSOs producing in the Búzios field development, respectively.
Each vessel is designed to produce 225,000 bopd2 and process 12 million cubic metres of gas per day, placing them among the largest FPSOs in the world. Together, P-80 and P-82 are expected to add 450,000 bopd, or an approximately 34%3 increase to the installed production capacity to the Búzios field when operational. Each vessel also has water injection capacity of approximately 250,000 bpd. P-80 and P-82 each have an oil storage capacity of approximately 2.5 million barrels, further enhancing their role as high-capacity production assets in Brazil’s prolific Búzios field.
Mr Chris Ong, Chief Executive Officer of Seatrium, said, “Over the last three decades, we have evolved alongside Petrobras’ needs to support its ambitions to be a global energy leader. The sailaway of P-80 and P-82 in close succession is a significant demonstration of that evolution, as we take the learnings to execute strongly for the three remaining P-Series FPSOs in our facilities. Orchestrating six large, multi-year projects concurrently is incredibly complex. We understand the criticality of these assets for Petrobras and Brazil – and we do not take this responsibility lightly. This milestone is a strong testament of our ability to create value, leveraging our global scale and capabilities, and galvanising the entire supply chain and ecosystem to deliver certainty for our customer. We are now fully focused on offshore commissioning, striving to replicate the success we had for P-78 that achieved first oil and gas at record time. We appreciate the close partnership and trust we have built with Petrobras, and hope to continue creating new possibilities together.”
Ms Magda Chambriard, President of Petrobras, said, “Along with the oil they will produce, these platforms will bring to Brazil the results of a strong partnership between Petrobras and Seatrium, between Brazil and Singapore – and they are further proof of just how fruitful this partnership has been. The P-80 will operate in Buzios, in the pre-salt layer of Santos Basin. It is a giant platform for our giant field. Buzios is Brazil’s largest field in terms of reserves and production and has already surpassed the milestone of 1.2 million bopd. The P-82 will follow, also heading to Buzios. With production scheduled to begin next year, the two units together will enable production from the Buzios field to increase by 450,000 bopd. They will generate energy for many years, bringing development and a better future for the Brazilian people while bearing witness to Singapore’s technical expertise in the global shipbuilding industry.”
As part of Petrobras’ new generation of high-capacity production facilities, P-80 and P-82 incorporate technologies designed to enhance operational efficiency and reduce emissions. These include carbon capture and reinjection capabilities, energy recovery systems and other emissions -reduction technologies that support more sustainable offshore production.
1 Brazil produced 4.475 million barrels of oil per day (bopd) in June 2026, according to ANP.
2 bopd: Barrels per day of oil production.
3 Based on Búzios field current total production capacity of approximately 1.335 million bopd, including the addition of P-78.
Enabled by the One Seatrium Global Delivery Model, Seatrium leverages its engineering, procurement, fabrication, integration and commissioning capabilities across its global network to execute complex projects seamlessly across multiple geographies. This integrated approach spanning thousands of Seatrium employees, contractors, suppliers and partners globally enables efficient resource deployment and reliable project delivery at scale.
For P-80 and P-82, Seatrium fabricated more than 110,000 metric tonnes of topside modules across its yards in Singapore, China and Brazil, before completing integration and commissioning at its Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore. The projects also involved some of the heaviest topside module lifts ever undertaken at the yard, enabled by Seatrium’s pair of 30,000-tonne Goliath twin cranes, among the world’s most powerful heavy-lift crane systems.
Building on lessons learned from the preceding P-78, Seatrium has reinforced its systems, processes and execution strategy. These valuable lessons and experience managing a massive global ecosystem and supply chain were clearly evident for P-80 and P-82 that are sailing away within weeks of each other.
These vessels are among a broader programme4 of six FPSO units Seatrium is concurrently managing for Petrobras that will provide approximately 1.3 million5 bopd of combined oil production capacity when they come onstream. This is equivalent to approximately 30%6 of Brazil’s average daily oil production of 4.5 million bopd in June 2026.
Since establishing its presence in Brazil in 1999, Seatrium has invested nearly S$2 billion in building local capabilities and supporting the country’s offshore energy industry. With three world-class yards, more than 12,000 employees and a robust local supply chain, Seatrium remains well positioned to support Petrobras and the continued development of Brazil’s offshore energy sector.
