Russia has received at least one cargo of gasoline from India as the country works to address domestic fuel shortages following Ukrainian drone strikes on its refineries, according to a report published Monday.

An Oman-flagged tanker transported approximately 68,000 metric tons of gasoline to Russia’s Arctic port of Vitino in early August. The cargo was loaded at the Port Said anchorage through a ship-to-ship transfer from the tanker Agni, which had previously loaded the fuel at India’s Vadinar port.

The gasoline is being moved from the port to domestic buyers by rail, with shipments already underway.

Russia has implemented several measures to support its domestic fuel market after repeated Ukrainian attacks on oil refineries led to shortages and price increases. These measures include rail imports of gasoline from Belarus and Kazakhstan, as well as a ban on fuel exports.

Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak stated in July that Russia would start importing oil products to help stabilize the domestic market.
