The 4th CSN Mediterranean Crewing Conference – “The Cost of Health & P&I Crew Claims” by Foteini Sifoniou, Crew Manager – Swiss Marine Inc.
Foteini Sifoniou
Crew Manager – SwissMarine Inc.
Foteini Sifoniou is the Crew Manager of SwissMarine Inc. for nearly 12 years. She joined the company as a Crew Assistant shortly after graduating from the Department of Accounting and Finance at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB).
Over the years, she has developed extensive expertise in crew management, progressively taking on greater responsibilities within the department. In parallel with her professional development, she earned an MSc in International Shipping, Finance and Management, further strengthening her knowledge of the maritime industry.
In 2020, she stepped into Crew Manager position, a role in which she oversees the company’s crewing operations and contributes to the continuous improvement of crew management practices.
As part of her commitment to professional growth and industry engagement, she regularly participates in crewing conferences and seminars in Greece and London, staying up to date with industry developments, regulatory changes, and emerging trends.
She also frequently visits Manila, where she maintains strong relationships with the company’s Filipino seafarers, local manning agencies, and industry partners.
Before entering the shipping industry, she studied and worked as a sports journalist, an experience that enhanced her communication and interpersonal skills. She finds crew management particularly challenging, as it is one of the most dynamic and people-oriented areas of a shipping company.
Her main objective for the future is to continuously improve seafarers’ well-being, ensuring that crew members receive the support, recognition, and opportunities they need to thrive.
