Hellenic Cables achieves qualification of its 525 kV HVDC XLPE cable systems for submarine and underground applications

Expanding its technological capabilities in extra-high voltage power transmission and strengthening its position in the global HVDC market
Hellenic Cables, the cables segment of Cenergy Holdings, announces the successful qualification of its 525 kV HVDC XLPE cable systems for both submarine and underground applications, marking a significant technological milestone that further strengthens the company’s position among the leading suppliers of extra-high voltage cable solutions worldwide.
The qualification covers submarine and underground cable systems designed for continuous operation at 80°C using XLPE insulation technology.
The submarine system was qualified in accordance with CIGRE Technical Brochure 852, while the underground system complies with both CIGRE Technical Brochure 852 and IEC 62895, confirming the reliability and performance of the cable systems under the most demanding international testing requirements.
This qualification marks an important milestone for Hellenic Cables, expanding its capability to support major HVDC interconnection projects worldwide and further enhancing its position in the extra-high voltage cable market.
Kostas Savvakis, General Manager of Hellenic Cables, stated: “This successful qualification demonstrates our continued commitment to innovation and engineering excellence. It broadens our portfolio of advanced HVDC cable solutions, strengthens our position in the global market, and enables us to support our customers with reliable technologies for the next generation of power transmission projects.”
