bp starts up Atlantis Major Facility Expansion project in Gulf of America

bp has started up its Atlantis Major Facility Expansion project in the US Gulf of America.
Atlantis is located about 150 miles south of New Orleans and has been in production for nearly 20 years. The expansion project adds two new subsea water injection wells to help increase the pressure of targeted reservoirs, unlocking additional barrels and extending the producing life of one of bp’s flagship US offshore assets.
“Atlantis has been one of the anchors of our Gulf business for nearly two decades, and this expansion proves there is still more value to be generated,” said Andy Krieger, senior vice president for the Gulf of America and Canada. “We’re extending the life of a great asset while supporting jobs and investment in the region — all while making the most of infrastructure that’s already in place.”
The project, which was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget, adds approximately 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) of gross peak annualized average production, with around 5,000 boe/d net to bp.
bp recently sanctioned two new production platforms, Kaskida and Tiber, which together are expected to add 160,000 barrels per day of new oil production capacity in the US offshore region by the end of 2030.
