York Space Systems’ Second Tactical Communications Satellite Lot ready for launch

York is set to become the first Space Development Agency (SDA) Tranche 1 performer to launch a second production lot, reinforcing the maturity of its production model
York Space Systems, a leading, US-based national defense and commercial prime providing a comprehensive suite of mission-enabling solutions, today announced that its second production lot of satellites for the SDA’s data network constellation is ready for imminent launch. The satellites, built to provide assured tactical communications for U.S. and Allied warfighters, are staged and prepared to launch aboard a dedicated Falcon 9.
York is the first SDA Tranche 1 performer to reach launch readiness with a second production lot, following its position as the first Tranche 1 provider to ship and launch operational spacecraft. Upon launch, York’s first and second production lots will represent more than 40 spacecraft delivered in support of the mission. This launch will also mark the third constellation and fifth mission York is simultaneously operating on orbit.
“As the nation builds toward the next generation of national security space and missile defense architectures, the demand for satellites at real scale keeps growing, and York is one of the few companies that can actually deliver it,” said Dirk Wallinger, CEO of York. “We’re once again first to the launch pad, at half the cost of our competition, because we’ve invested in our production capabilities and refined our processes to run with ruthless efficiency.”
This production lot capitalizes on York’s significant investment across multiple York production facilities, purpose-built to manufacture spacecraft at mass scale. Reaching this milestone twice reflects the strength of York’s supply chain and production processes, which allow the company to consistently meet the pace required by the government’s evolving national security space needs.
On orbit, these spacecraft will form part of the secure, resilient communications backbone that U.S. and allied forces rely on to execute missions across every domain.
