The newbuilding market has retained its strong momentum over the past week. In its latest weekly report, shipbroker Banchero Costa said that “newbuilding market remains hot even this week, with tankers and containers again under the spotlight; Hong Kong based Owners Cido Shipping booked and order to Philippines subsidary yard of Hyundai H.I. For 4x 300,000 dwt Vlccs. Vessels are to be delivered in 2028 and priced $ 130 mln each. Still on very large crude carrier, Jiangsu New Hantong received an order for 4x more 306,000 unit from YZJ Maritime, bringing up to a total of eight unit the orderbook of the Chinese Owner at the yard.

Price reported is 125 mln, with deliveries from October 2028 to september 2029; same price and similar deliveries obtained by Turkish Owner YASA for their 4x units at the Yard. In the dry bulk segment, Chinese Owner Changhang Freight is reported having committed 2x 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulk carriers at Jiangsu Haitong, priced $ 40 mln each and to be delivered in 2028 and 2029, while Turkish Owner EOS Group is rumoured having booked 4x 40,400 dwt large handies at Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industries: while the price is still undisclosed, the deliveries are stemming from August 2028 to February 2030”.

Meanwhile, in a separate report, shipbroker Xclusiv commented on the S&P market that “activity this week was spread across all dry bulk sectors, with notable transactions from Capesize down to Handysize. On the Capesize sector, Chinese buyers acquired the Scrubber fitted “Lady Deena” – 183K/2020 JMU for region USD 70 mills basis delivery in November-December. Moving down the sizes, the Kamsarmax “Etron” – 81K/2016 Jiangsu Jinling was sold to Agricore for USD 27 mills. In the Supramax sector, the “Unity Maria” – 56K/2012 HMD changed hands for USD 16.5 mills, while the “Dato Lucky” – 57K/2011 Taizhou Kouan was sold for USD 13.5 mills basis delivery with surveys passed. Chinese buyers acquired the “VW Trust” – 52K/2002 Tsuneishi for USD 8 mills. Finally, on the Handysize sector, the semi-boxed “Atlantic Star” – 37K/2018 Oshima found new owners for USD 26 mills basis delivery in December 2026. Last but not least, the semi-boxed “Darya Krishna” – 35K/2016 Namura was sold for region/excess USD 20 mills”.
