
The Cyprus Marine Club hosted a landmark gathering, welcoming approximately 200 members and guests, making it the most well-attended event in the Club’s history.
The evening opened with welcoming remarks by Capt. Eberhard Koch, President of the Cyprus Marine Club, who highlighted the Club’s continued growth and strong member engagement. He announced the addition of two new corporate members :Guma Tech and EMA as well as new individual member Aristotelis Moutafis, further strengthening the Club’s growing maritime network.
Marking the Day of the Seafarer, Capt. Koch also paid tribute to seafarers worldwide, recognizing their dedication, resilience, and invaluable contribution to global trade and the maritime industry.
The evening’s highlight was an exclusive keynote address by Prabhat Jha, Group Managing Director and CEO of MSC Shipmanagement Limited, and one of the most respected leaders in the global maritime sector. Mr. Jha was introduced by Sunil Kapoor, Board Member of the Club and COO & Partner of OL Shipping Group.

In his introduction, Sunil Kapoor shared personal reflections on his long-standing friendship with Mr. Jha, highlighting not only their shared maritime roots but also Mr. Jha’s extraordinary journey from marine engineer to one of the most influential executives in global shipping. He praised Mr. Jha’s leadership, integrity, and significant contribution to Cyprus’s maritime ecosystem, noting that his success has brought considerable value and recognition to the island’s shipping cluster.
In his keynote presentation, titled “Cyprus at the Heart of the World’s Largest Shipping Line: The MSC Shipmanagement Success Story,” Mr. Jha delivered an insightful and highly engaging address, offering valuable perspectives on MSC Shipmanagement’s remarkable evolution and underscoring the strategic role of Cyprus within the Group’s global operations. The presentation was further enriched by personal anecdotes from his career journey, shared with warmth, humility and a delightful sense of humour.
Following the presentation, members and guests enjoyed an elegant networking reception accompanied by live music from cellist Fabi, whose performance added a sophisticated atmosphere to the evening.
The event once again reinforced the Cyprus Marine Club’s role as a premier platform for professional exchange, thought leadership, and meaningful connection within the maritime community.
