Jukka Nieminen appointed Chairman of the Board and Matti Malkamäki named CEO of Hycamite

Hycamite, a producer of low-carbon hydrogen and high-quality carbon materials, is strengthening its leadership team as it expands its operations. Jukka Nieminen has been appointed Chair of the Board of Directors, effective June 17, 2026. Matti Malkamäki has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer , and Laura Rahikka the role of Chief Operating Officer.
Jukka Nieminen brings extensive international experience across the industrial, energy, and technology sectors, with a strong track record in leading growth, transformation, and complex project-based businesses.
“I am excited about the capability of Hycamite’s proprietary technology to solve some of the largest decarbonization challenges on the planet. The founders and investors have already reached significant milestones by developing advanced methane-splitting technology and building a major decarbonization facility in Kokkola, Finland. I am committed to supporting Hycamite in its commercial progress toward European and global customers representing markets as diverse as power generation, steel, chemicals, and advanced batteries,” says Jukka Nieminen.
Matti Malkamäki, who previously served as Chair of the Board of Directors, has transitioned into the role of CEO. Laura Rahikka, formerly CEO, has assumed the role of COO.
“The team in Kokkola has built a strong foundation, and we now have a unique industrial-scale methane-splitting facility. This demonstrates our capabilities and the potential of our technology at scale. Our next step is to expand the facility and increase the production of high-quality, optimised carbon products, including battery-grade graphite,” says COO Laura Rahikka.
“Hycamite is now entering a new phase of development. Together with our partners, we will expand into new applications and support growing demand in power generation and electrification. Our solution enables non-weather-dependent hydrogen production and the onshoring of critical materials such as graphite,” says CEO Matti Malkamäki.
Hycamite, headquartered in Kokkola, Finland, is entering its next phase of growth, driven by continued progress in industrial operations, technology development, and commercial activities. The company is scaling its industrial capabilities, with its decarbonization plant in Kokkola under development, while advancing its technology across multiple product streams.
At the same time, Hycamite is progressing customer and partner engagements and further refining its growth strategy and business model to support international expansion.
Hycamite’s proprietary methane-splitting technology enables the production of low-carbon hydrogen and high-value carbon materials without CO₂ emissions, supporting the decarbonization of industrial processes. The company developing methane pyrolysis technology continues to strengthen its position as a provider of low-carbon hydrogen and critical carbon materials for global industries.
