Who We Are
EMA Marine GmbH is a Hamburg-based Manning Agency with a uniquely integrated approach to maritime crew supply. As part of YCF Manning, we operate in close synergy with the Ethiopian Maritime Training Institute (EMTI), the only maritime engineering academy in Ethiopia, enabling us to oversee the entire journey from training to deployment.
Today, we manage a stable rotation of over 2200 seafarers, ranging from Engine Cadets to Chief Engineers and Senior ETOs, serving clients across the global maritime industry.
Our Academy: EMTI What sets EMA Marine apart is our vertical integration. EMTI forms the educational backbone of our crew supply chain, ensuring quality and consistency from day one.
▸ Strong Academic Foundation: Before entering the Maritime Academy, all our cadets already hold a BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an Ethiopian university, bringing deep technical knowledge to their maritime training.
▸ English as the Working Language: English is the official language of instruction and business in Ethiopia, ensuring our seafarers are workplace-ready from the outset.
▸ Internationally Recognized: Ethiopia has been recognized by the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) since 2017, and is accepted by most major flag states worldwide, including Malta, Bahamas, Marshall Islands, Liberia, Italy, Panama, Germany, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Portugal, among others.
▸ Female Cadets Programme: Since 2025, EMTI has launched its inaugural batch of female cadets, reflecting our commitment to diversity and inclusion in the maritime industry.
