OL Shipping Group and EPSCO Cyprus Group reaffirm support for the ATLAS Volunteer Firefighting Team

June 18, 2026

Representatives of OL Shipping Group, EPSCO Group, and the ATLAS Volunteer Firefighting Team met at the EPSCO premises for the presentation of a firefighting vehicle acquired with the support of the two companies.

The purchase of a vehicle, which prominently displays the logos of the companies, was made possible through substantial contributions from both OL Shipping Group and EPSCO Cyprus Group, reflecting their shared commitment to supporting community safety, emergency preparedness and environmental protection in Cyprus.

OL Shipping Group was first introduced to the ATLAS Volunteer Firefighting Team through EPSCO  Group, a valued and longstanding supporter of the organisation and its mission.

During the meeting, representatives gathered for photographs alongside the vehicle, while members of the ATLAS Volunteer Firefighting Team provided a practical demonstration of the vehicle and its equipment, showcasing its operational capabilities and its role in supporting firefighting and emergency response efforts across the island.

Following the presentation, Mr. Nicolas Nicolaou- Head of the ATLAS Volunteer Firefighting Team, briefed attendees on the organisation’s activities, achievements and future plans. He highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the team’s operational readiness, expand its resources and further enhance its ability to respond effectively to emergencies and wildfire incidents throughout Cyprus. OL Shipping Group supported the ATLAS Fire Team with a further petrol contribution.

The discussion also highlighted the  importance of cooperation between the Cyprus Fire Service, volunteer firefighting organisations and the private sector. While each plays a distinct role, all share the same objective: protecting safety and the natural beauty of Cyprus.

As Cyprus once again enters the peak wildfire season, the meeting served as a timely reminder of the importance of vigilance, preparedness and collective responsibility. The devastating fires of recent years demonstrated that no single organisation can face such challenges alone. They also reinforced a valuable lesson: when communities come together, they become stronger, more resilient and better equipped to respond to adversity.

Community involvement, neighbourly support and solidarity remain among the most powerful tools available in times of crisis.

OL Shipping Group and EPSCO Cyprus Group expressed their sincere appreciation for the dedication, professionalism and selfless commitment of the ATLAS volunteers and reaffirmed their support for initiatives that strengthen public safety, community resilience and emergency response capabilities throughout Cyprus.
