Worley Rosenberg has been awarded a new contract by Subsea7 for the fabrication of subsea structures for Equinor’s Fram Sør development in the northern North Sea. The project represents an important award for  Worley Rosenberg’s fully integrated engineering and construction yard in Stavanger, Norway.

Under the contract, Worley Rosenberg will fabricate a total of 34 subsea structures, mainly comprising PLEMs (Pipeline End Manifolds), PLETs (Pipeline End Terminations) and PLRs (Pig Launchers and Receivers). The project will start immediately, with planned steel cutting in June this year.

Fram Sør will contribute to energy security by bringing new oil and gas resources into production on the Norwegian continental shelf through tie backs to existing infrastructure. The development is connected to the Troll C platform, which will be operating with power from shore, resulting in very low production emissions.

Strategic subsea developments

Subsea tie back developments are becoming increasingly important on the Norwegian continental shelf, enabling faster, more cost efficient and lower emission developments of smaller discoveries around existing facilities. An estimated 50–75 such developments are expected toward 2035, representing a significant long term market for the supplier industry. Worley  Rosenberg is well positioned through strong subsea and topsides capabilities and a proven ability to deliver high quality, cost effective solutions.

At peak, the Fram Sør project will engage more than 80 employees at Worley Rosenberg across project management and fabrication disciplines. Equinor is the operator of the Fram Sør field, with Subsea7 delivering the EPCI scope for subsea structures and flowlines.

• Fram Sør is a subsea development with four 4‑slot templates. Twelve wells are planned at start up, with four additional slots available for future development in the Fram/Troll area.
• The subsea installations will be tied back to existing Fram infrastructure and to the Troll C platform for processing and export.
• Oil will be transported via Troll Oil Pipeline II to Mongstad, while gas will be exported to Kollsnes through the Troll A platform.
