As part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA) is proud to announce the launch of the ICOMIA 60 Years History Timeline: 1966–2026 – a commemorative collection of historical images, quotes, anecdotes and milestone moments spanning six decades of industry collaboration, innovation and progress.

Officially launching in conjunction with the ICOMIA/IFBSO Congress 2026, taking place in Washington, D.C., from May 24-28, the timeline offers a visual and editorial journey through ICOMIA’s rich and vibrant history, from its humble beginnings with ambitious global ideas to its current position as the leading international voice of the recreational marine industry.

Since its founding in 1966, ICOMIA has remained at the forefront of key industry developments, advocacy and collaboration. Today, ICOMIA membership represents a significant chunk of the world’s leisure marine and boating business, underlining the organisation’s significant global reach and influence.

The ICOMIA 60 Years History Timeline showcases some of the organisation’s achievements as the result of decades of commitment, generosity, leadership and vision from individuals and associations across the world. It highlights a shared understanding that international cooperation is not merely beneficial, but essential to the continued growth and sustainability of the marine sector.

Reflecting on this milestone, the anniversary project serves as both a celebration of ICOMIA’s legacy and a recognition of the people who have shaped its success over the past 60 years.

As ICOMIA marks this important anniversary, the organisation looks ahead with the same spirit of collaboration and innovation that has defined its first six decades.
