Milestone in Asia RECHARGE Wind Power Summit Asia-Pacific wins over the industry and sets strong momentum

A successful premiere in the growth region Asia-Pacific: On 19 and 20 May in Singapore, the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific powered by WindEnergy Hamburg impressed with a high-calibre programme, international participation, and strong resonance from industry and policymakers. The event delivered important impetus for wind energy and underscores the ongoing internationalisation of Hamburg Messe und Congress.
Beaming faces at the close of the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific powered by WindEnergy Hamburg: delegates, speakers, exhibitors, sponsors and organisers look back on two intensive conference and exhibition days at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre on 19 and 20 May. “The summit was a spectacular success. Our first renewable energy event in the Asia-Pacific growth region impressed the industry community in every respect,” says Heiko M. Stutzinger, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC). For Hamburg Messe und Congress, this marks a historic milestone in the further internationalisation of its portfolio—while Singapore, as a strategic hub of the region’s economy, proved the ideal venue for this outstanding debut.

Strong regional support
Dr Tan See Leng, Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore opened the summit with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting. Key support also came from the two government agencies Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board. The event was further strengthened by the participation of Sue-Ern Tan, Head of the IEA Regional Cooperation Centre, International Energy Agency (IEA), as well as the presence of ambassadors from Germany, Norway, Vietnam and Denmark. “The strong turnout, insightful discussions, and partnerships formed at the inaugural RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific are a clear signal of the region’s growing commitment towards wind energy. Singapore is actively developing the capabilities and ecosystem needed to accelerate renewable and wind energy development in the region. These will strengthen both energy resilience and environmental sustainability. We look forward to hosting WindEnergy Asia-Pacific 2027 and 2029 to advance the agenda, and welcome global players to be part of it,” says Wong Zeng Yi, Assistant Managing Director for Manufacturing, Enterprise Singapore. The summit sends a strong signal for the future of renewable energy.
Key industry players
Among the prominent participants in the Asian metropolis was VDMA, Europe’s largest mechanical engineering industry association: “Our expectations of the event were exceeded in both technical and organisational terms. It was an impressive occasion, which we were proud to attend together with several of our members, including OEMs and suppliers from the wind industry”, concludes Dr Dennis Rendschmidt, Managing Director at VDMA Power Systems.

The figures also speak for themselves: 60 experts from politics, industry, and academia presented and debated across the various panels; the total attendance was with 1.500 participants from 25 countries much higher than expected; around 40 companies and associations showcased their products and services in the exhibition area. “The combination of a top-class conference programme and an exclusive exhibition space creates real added value. In Singapore, too, participants made intensive use of the wide-ranging opportunities for professional exchange and networking,” says Claus Ulrich Selbach, Vice President Exhibitions at Hamburg Messe und Congress.
High professional quality
The summit was co-organised by the renowned news publication RECHARGE, contributing its expertise as an international platform and thought leader. RECHARGE Editor-in-Chief Ole Petter Pedersen moderated the event and also draws a thoroughly positive conclusion: “The quality of the presentations and panel discussions was outstanding.” The focus was on innovation, investment, and international collaboration. “Exchange -particularly in areas such as grid expansion and storage technology -is essential for the success of the energy transition,” Pedersen adds, highlighting the strong collaboration with Hamburg Messe and Congress.
As part of the conference programme, Robert Liew, Research Director Power and Renewables Asia Pacific at consultancy Wood Mackenzie, presented a comprehensive overview of market conditions in the region. Vicky Roberts-Mills, Global Head of Energy Transition at insurer AXA, explored the risks and opportunities of financing wind energy projects in her keynote. In addition, the highly successful APAC market sessions hosted by the Asia Wind Energy Association (AWEA) on the Solution Stage highlighted the region’s significant growth potential and strong momentum in the wind energy sector. Representatives of the exhibiting companies were also highly satisfied. On site was leading European Onshore wind turbine manufacturer ENERCON: “We gained a great deal of valuable insight into the current market developments in the region and established numerous promising business contacts with Asian partners,” summarises Steffen Brauns, ENERCON APAC Regional Head.

A successful concept with a future
“The mutually beneficial partnership with RECHARGE, Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board will continue in further formats. The APAC region deserves one central event for the wind energy industry, and I am proud that we as a team have delivered this,” emphasises HMC Vice President Exhibitions Claus Ulrich Selbach. Next up is WindEnergy Hamburg 2026 in September the world’s leading industry event where strong participation from Asian companies is expected. Another highlight in the Asian market will follow next year with WindEnergy Asia-Pacific powered by RECHARGE in Singapore, taking place from 25 to 27 May 2027. The three-day event will add another chapter to HMC’s successful expansion into Asia. Associations such as VDMA have already confirmed their participation and strongly recommend it to their member companies.
