Wind Energy Hamburg World Premiere in Singapore

With opening of the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific powered by WindEnergy Hamburg, Hamburg Messe und Congress brings its wind energy expertise to Asia for the first time.
Today marks the launch of the RECHARGE Wind Power Summit 2026 Asia-Pacific powered by WindEnergy Hamburg. The two-day event at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre is also the first in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region to be co-organised by WindEnergy Hamburg, in partnership with the industry news publication RECHARGE. Two local government agencies, Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Tourism Board, are supporting the Summit.
“Last year, Hamburg’s First Mayor and Singapore’s ambassador to Germany participated in the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the expansion of their joint trade fair activities focused on wind energy. This is now becoming a reality. Similar to Hamburg’s role in Europe, Singapore is a strategic hub for the Asia-Pacific region, and a driving force for the growth of global onshore and offshore wind energy,” said Heiko M. Stutzinger, CEO of Hamburg Messe und Congress (HMC), in his opening address. “The fact that both Singapore and Germany were so prominently represented gave evidence of the significance of the event,” he added.
Strong political backing
The summit was officially opened by Dr. Tan See Leng, Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology, Ministry of Trade and Industry Singapore. The German government was represented by ambassador to Singapore Dr. Bettina Fanghänel, underlining the close cooperation between both countries and the importance of wind energy for the sustainable transformation of the energy supply in Europe and Asia. Sue-Ern Tan, Head of the Regional Cooperation Centre of the International Energy Agency (IEA), provided expert insights into energy policy. Finding solutions together is the key to a secure future energy supply, she stressed.
Other names on the list of top-flight guests include:
- Yi-Hua Lu, Partner at the Danish investment firm Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners,
- Dr. Dennis Rendschmidt, Managing Director at Europe’s leading machinery and equipment engineering association VDMA Power Systems,
- Eduardo Prina, CEO Asia Pacific Onshore at wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa,
- Nat Hutanuwatr, CEO of the Thai renewables specialist Impact Electrons Siam,
- Knut Vassbotn, CEO of the Norwegian project developer Deep Wind Offshore,
- Ignacio Domecq, Managing Director Southeast Asia at the Spanish renewable energy systems operator Acciona Energia, and
- Edward Hou, Senior Vice President & President of Asia Pacific at the Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Envision Energy.
Focus on the industry’s key topics
All in all, organisers RECHARGE and Hamburg Messe und Congress have won around 40 distinguished speakers from the wind industry for the event. Roughly 1,000 visitors are expected to attend the information-packed two-day programme. “Across six sessions, we are shedding light on all important aspects of the future development of wind energy in the Asian market, from the political conditions to innovative technology, and through to resilient integrated energy systems,” said moderator Andrew Lee,Corporate Power Editor at RECHARGE. Major players on site
Around 40 companies are showcasing their innovative services and products in the expo area, including market leaders such as the turbine manufacturer ENERCON, the gearbox and drive-train manufacturer ZF Wind Power, pipe manufacturer Jiangsu Juxin Petroleum, and offshore specialist Seatrium. The event is backed by major industry organisations such as the Asia Wind Energy Association (AWEA), the Association of Singapore Marine and Offshore Energy Industries (ASMI), Bundesverband WindEnergie (BWE), the offshore association World Forum Offshore Wind (WFO), as well as VDMA. “By combining a conference with an exhibition, the Summit in Singapore provides a unique opportunity to get thoroughly informed while building the necessary networks,” said Claus Ulrich Selbach, Vice President Exhibitions at Hamburg Messe und Congress. Interaction will be further facilitated by special formats such as the Start-up Area and the Solutions Stage, alongside the popular Wine o’clock gatherings where conversations can take place in a relaxed atmosphere. In September, numerous additional networking opportunities will be provided to the global wind community at WindEnergy Hamburg, the world’s leading wind industry fair and international industry event.
