The Cyprus Shipping Chamber successfully held its 37th Annual General Meeting on 13 May 2026 at the “Four Seasons” Hotel in Limassol.

The General Meeting was addressed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Nikos Christodoulides, the President of the House of Representatives, H.E. Mrs. Annita Demetriou, and the President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Mr. Andreas Neophytou.

In his address, the President of the Republic highlighted the priority his Government places on the Shipping Industry, as well as the sector’s significant growth and its increasingly important contribution to the Cyprus economy and the country’s international standing. He also expressed his appreciation for the Chamber’s work throughout its 37 years of operation and its substantial contribution to the success of Cyprus Shipping. Furthermore, he emphasised the Government’s ongoing political support for the Shipping Industry through targeted initiatives and necessary measures aimed at further strengthening its competitiveness and growth.

The President of the House of Representatives stressed that the resilience of the Shipping sector, which continues to serve as a strong pillar of the Cyprus economy despite international economic and geopolitical challenges, is highly commendable. On behalf of all Members of the House of Representatives, she reaffirmed the Parliament’s commitment to continued close cooperation with the Chamber for the further advancement of the Cyprus Shipping sector.

The President of the Cyprus Shipping Chamber, Mr. Andreas Neophytou, in his address, provided an overview of the Cyprus Shipping Industry’s strong fundamentals and its significant potential for further growth. He underlined that, from local initiatives to international representation, the Chamber continues to work tirelessly to ensure the industry remains globally competitive and resilient. While acknowledging the key challenges ahead, he emphasised that through collective action, cooperation and innovation, Cyprus Shipping is well positioned to continue thriving in a rapidly evolving global environment.

A new feature of this year’s AGM was the keynote address by Prof. Marios Panagiotis Efthymiopoulos, Director at Strategy International (SI) and Associate Professor of International Security and Strategy. He provided a vital assessment of the geopolitical forces shaping global shipping today, while highlighting Cyprus Shipping’s competitive advantages and strategic positioning. His insights offered a clear roadmap for the sector’s continued development, reaffirming that even in a challenging global climate, Cyprus Shipping has the fundamentals to succeed and grow.

The event was also honoured by the presence of Ministers, Members of Parliament, high-level Government and State Officials, Political Party Representatives, Diplomats, Representatives of Professional Organisations, as well as Members of the Chamber.
