HD Hyundai announced on April 23 that it has signed a series of Memoranda of Understanding with partners including the U.S. company Anduril and the American Bureau of Shipping .

HD Hyundai is currently participating in the ‘Sea Air Space 2026 (SAS 2026)’ exhibition, held over four days from April 19 in Washington, D.C.

On April 22, local time, HD Hyundai signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on the Joint Development of Advanced Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) Systems’ with the AI defense company Anduril.

Furthermore, on the same day, HD Hyundai signed a ‘tripartite MOU on the development of autonomous maritime systems and related regulatory and certification frameworks’ with ABS and Anduril.

Through this collaboration, the three companies, including HD Hyundai, are expected to establish the demonstration and certification procedures essential for the development and commercialization of unmanned vessels, and will work together to create regulations related to unmanned systems.

Joo Won-ho, President and Head of the Naval & Special Ship Business Unit at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, stated, “The unmanned vessel sector is a key topic in the future global naval ship market, and it is a field we must lead,” adding, “Through our cooperation with Anduril and ABS, we will demonstrate our outstanding technological capabilities in the global unmanned vessel market.”
