• The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Valencia APV grants Valencia Terminal Europa a concession for the operation of a terminal for the reception, storage and distribution of vehicles and ro-ro cargo.
• The Regional Minister for Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Trade, Marian Cano, and the Vice-President of the CEV, Carlos Prades, have taken office as new councillors at the proposal of the Regional Government.

The Board of Directors of the Port Authority of Valencia has granted an administrative concession to Valencia Terminal Europa for the operation of a terminal for the reception, storage and distribution of vehicles and ro-ro cargo for private use in the Port of Sagunto. This new terminal represents an investment of €3.9 million and consolidates Sagunto as an automotive hub.

The new concession is approved for a period of 10 years and will be located at Central Quay 2 and South Quay 2.

At this morning’s Council meeting, the following new councillors took office, as proposed by the Regional Government: Marian Cano, Regional Minister for Industry, Tourism, Innovation and Trade; and Carlos Prades, Vice-President of the Valencian Confederation of Business Owners (CEV) and President of the Transport Federation (FVET).

The Board of Directors thanked the outgoing directors (Salvador Navarro and Ester Olivas) for their work.

At the same meeting, Elena C. Delgado Gutiérrez – ex officio member of the Board of Directors in accordance with the provisions of Article 30.1.b) of the TRLPEMM – was appointed Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors

of the Port Authority of Valencia, in accordance with the provisions of Article 32.1 of the Consolidated Text of the Law on State Ports and the Merchant Navy.

At today’s meeting, the Council approved an administrative concession for the occupation of public port property in favour of Lanzadera Emprendedores, for the construction and maintenance of a landscaped area linked to the former Alinghi America’s Cup Team Base in the Valencia Marina. This landscaped area will cover an area of 1,723 square metres.

Advances in port-city interaction in Sagunto

On another note, the APV Council has agreed to continue with the processing of the Delimitation of Port Areas and Uses (DEUP) for the Port of Sagunto, following the public information process. The APV has considered various allegations made by the Sagunto City Council, ‘thus demonstrating its commitment to the development of port-city interaction and the need for a new agreement that reflects the needs that have arisen in the relationship between the APV and the City Council, on which we have been working together,’ explained APV President Mar Chao.

Other Council agreements

The port’s governing body has rejected the appeal lodged by Puerto Natura Valencia against the Council’s decision to revoke, without compensation, the concession granted to this company to build and manage a public passenger terminal.

The Council has also rejected Intersagunto Terminales’ request to modify the minimum annual traffic volume. Finally, a modification to the concession granted to the Gandia Port Fishermen’s Association has been authorised, allowing them to supply fuel, extending the term by five years.
