Hoppe Marine, the leading provider of measurement and control solutions for the shipping industry, is pleased to announce its new representation in Greece through Mr. Spiros Kalimeris. The Greek and Cypriot shipping community will be supported locally under the brand of Hoppe Hellas from 9 March
Greece and Cyprus together form the world‘s largest shipowning community, representing more than 20 per cent of the global fleet. This region therefore plays an important role for Hoppe Marine due to its strong focus on large newbuilding projects in China and Korea, as well as ongoing fleet modernisation and retrofitting driven by efficiency improvements and regulatory requirements.
As a strategic hub for the Eastern Mediterranean, the Greek market offers unique proximity to key decision- makers, fleet managers and technical departments. At the same time, there is a growing demand for high- quality after-sales support – from spare parts supply and service contracts to retrofit solutions – which represents a significant opportunity to add value through a dedicated local structure.
Hoppe Marine would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Oceanking for the constructive and loyal cooperation over many years. Their support has played an important role in establishing Hoppe Marine’s footprint in the Greek market. With the foundation of Hoppe Hellas, this collaboration has now concluded, and Hoppe Marine looks forward to continuing its engagement in Greece through its new representation.
Spiros Kalimeris, an Electrical Engineer (MSc) with deep expertise in marine automation, digitalization, and performance optimization, has recently assumed the role of Regional Manager. His vision is to position Hoppe Hellas as the go-to partner for Greek and Cypriot shipowners, delivering responsive, reliable, and innovative solutions that support newbuilding projects, retrofits, and after-sales services aligned with evolving regulatory and efficiency trends.
Drawing on his technical foundation as Fleet Electrical Superintendent at Thenamaris, where he managed complex electrical and automation systems across a large fleet, as well as his commercial experience at Oceanking, where he successfully developed Hoppe Marine’s client base in the Greek shipping market, Spiros combines technical insight with strategic business acumen.
Committed to sustainability and operational excellence, he aims to help shipowners achieve compliance and efficiency through advanced technologies that reduce environmental impact while optimising vessel performance.
Future prospects
Hoppe Hellas‘ long-term vision is to become the preferred partner for Greek and Cypriot shipowners seeking advanced measurement, control and digitalization solutions. Hoppe Hellas strives to provide direct, responsive and reliable support so that customers can operate safely and efficiently.
In addition, the new office will actively support shipowners in meeting ever-evolving regulatory requirements – such as EEXI, CII and DCS – and act as an important bridge between the local shipping community and Hoppe Marine‘s engineering and service teams.
