At the end of last week, negotiations in Manila between Danish Shipping and the Associated Marine Officers’ and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) resulted in a new two-year collective bargaining agreement for Filipino officers and ratings serving on DIS vessels.

Danish Shipping was represented by Anne Windfeldt Trolle, Director for Labour Market, Employment Law and Collective Agreements, and Bertil Hohlmann, Head of Collective Agreements, as well as Nynne Scheuer, Senior Director and Head of Marine People & Culture at A.P. Moller – Maersk, and Allan Dan Jensen, Head of Marine at Torm.

The agreement includes, among other things, reasonable differentiated pay increases, allowing for the recognition of specific positions, and lays the foundation for a new pension scheme to enter into force on 1 April 2026, replacing the existing arrangement.

“Through constructive dialogue and a shared understanding of the need for balanced solutions, we reached an agreement that is fair and well balanced and that creates stability and value for both parties. To me, that is precisely what successful collective bargaining is about: mutual respect, trust and a genuine willingness to understand each other’s perspectives,” said Anne Windfeldt Trolle.

Danish Shipping has had collective bargaining agreements with AMOSUP since the Danish International Ship Register (DIS) was introduced in 1988. Over the years, many thousands of Filipino seafarers have served on DIS vessels.
