YoungShip Cyprus recently hosted its highly anticipated Young Leader Award Ceremony during the ‘Melodies Across the Sea’ event on 6th February 2026. Held at the Limassol New Port, the evening served as a vibrant gathering for the maritime community, industry stalwarts, and emerging professionals to celebrate the next generation of leadership.
Celebrating Excellence and Mentorship
The centrepiece of the evening was the presentation of the Young Leader Award, an accolade reserved for individuals who inspire young professionals and consistently champion the mission of YoungShip Cyprus.
Andreas Christoforou, Chairman of YoungShip Cyprus, presented the award, noting the critical importance of mentorship in today’s landscape. In his opening remarks, he emphasised that the vital role young leaders play is essential for shaping a sustainable and forward-looking maritime industry.
This Year’s Recipient: Theodoros Mitsingas
The 2026 Young Leader Award was proudly presented to Theodoros Mitsingas.
Since joining the global oil and shipping group Monjasa in 2013, Theodoros has been a pivotal force in building the company’s regional footprint from the ground up. His leadership is defined by:
-
Regional Expansion: Successfully growing Monjasa’s Mediterranean presence from a team of 2 to approximately 25 employees.
-
Strategic Growth: Opening the Athens office to solidify the Group’s presence in a premier global shipping hub.
-
Team Building: Fostering one of the youngest and most dynamic teams in the industry, bridging the gap between seasoned veterans and the new generation.
Theodoros was recognised for his intelligence, dedication, and a forward-looking mindset that inspires others through consistency and hard work.
A Community United
Beyond the formal presentation, the ceremony provided an engaging platform for networking and collaboration. The event reinforced the strong sense of community that defines YoungShip Cyprus, providing a space where established industry leaders could interact with those just beginning their maritime careers.
We at Cyprus Shipping News extend our warmest congratulations to Theodoros Mitsingas on this well-deserved recognition.
