The Maritime Anti-Corruption Network has signed a Memorandum of Agreement  with Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pelayaran Jakarta, formalizing collaboration to strengthen integrity awareness and skills among future maritime professionals. The MoA was signed by Dr. Capt Tri Cahyadi, Principal of STIP Jakarta, and Martin Benderson, Chief Partnership Officer of MACN.

Dr. Capt. Tri Cahyadi, STIP Jakarta said, “Integrity is a core professional competency. Through this MoA with MACN, we will embed real-world anti-corruption scenarios and practices into our teaching, ensuring that our graduates are prepared to uphold the highest standards on board and across port operations.”

This signing builds on the recent Training-of-Trainers module delivered by MACN at STIP. Importantly, the module’s opening ceremony was attended by Director General Muhammad Masyhud of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, underscoring the Government of Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening integrity and professionalism in maritime education.

On 3–4 February, 30 lecturers from STIP Jakarta participated in a Training-of-Trainers programme focused on strengthening integrity and deepening their understanding of corruption risks in the maritime sector. The aim is to equip lecturers to train the Next Generation of Seafarers with the knowledge and tools needed to recognise and address corrupt practices.

Martin Benderson said, “Indonesia’s maritime sector is pivotal to regional trade. By partnering with STIP, we’re investing in the next generation of maritime leaders, equipping cadets and faculty with practical tools to prevent, resist, and report corruption. This collaboration complements our broader program to build integrity across Indonesia’s maritime sector.”

The programme will be integrated into the curriculum as a stand-alone anti-corruption course, which all students will be required to complete, reaching more than 1,500 students at STIP. In addition, MACN and STIP will collaborate to explore how more advanced and specialised anti-corruption courses can be developed and implemented in the future.

This partnership aligns with MACN’s multi-year initiative in Indonesia to mobilize private-public sector collective action, expand targeted integrity training, and strengthen public-private dialogue; efforts that include the launch of MACN’s award-winning MACN HelpDesk.

Additional Integrity Engagements in Indonesia 

Alongside the STIP collaboration, MACN is advancing several complementary integrity-focused engagements in Indonesia, including partnership efforts with industry associations, continued cooperation with government bodies on anticorruption priorities, and dialogue with private-sector actors. These activities collectively reinforce MACN’s long-term commitment to strengthening transparency, accountability, and operational certainty across Indonesia’s maritime and port ecosystem.
