Full control acquired of VCK Port Logistics and of the only terminal with “covered” berths capable of operating in all weather conditions

The symbol of this transaction, completed by Nova Marine Carriers jointly with the German shipping company Aug. Bolten (of which Nova Marine is already a shareholder) and the Spanish group Ership, is the only terminal in Europe capable of loading and unloading cargo on vessels “under cover”, thus guaranteeing 24-hour operations in any weather conditions. This is the Waterland Terminal in the Port of Amsterdam, considered one of the “front-runners” in the port logistics market, also thanks to the availability of a dehumidified warehouse for steel products.

Nova Marine Carriers, together with its two partners and through the Dutch subsidiary Maja Stuwadoorsgroep B.V., signed today the final agreement with VCK Holding for the acquisition of full shareholding control of VCK Port Logistics (VCK), as well as of other port logistics infrastructures belonging to VCK and its affiliated companies Verenigd Cargadoorskantoor and Waterland Terminal.

The current shareholder is handing over control of the companies after more than 100 years, having positioned VCK Port Logistics as a highly prominent and reliable player in the logistics and port market.

With the new shareholders, VCK has found new strategic partners who intend to continue growing in the break bulk and dry bulk sectors together with VCK and its customers. Continuity of operations is guaranteed for both VCK customers and employees, also thanks to a relationship of full trust with the management team, which will retain responsibility for operating the infrastructures.

The Waterland Terminal in the Port of Amsterdam is indeed a state-of-the-art, multimodal terminal operating in all weather conditions. The combination of facilities offered by this terminal is unique in Europe. The “one roof all weather” concept, extensive experience and innovative approach enable the offering of highly efficient and competitive logistics solutions to customers, perfectly aligning with Nova Marine’s strategic plan to expand its presence in port logistics as well.

The Waterland Terminal features three all-weather berths (LoLo) and two open berths (RoRo). Transshipment, storage and distribution operations continue 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Thanks to the “one roof all weather” concept, weather conditions do not affect the speed or quality of operations.

As mentioned, the terminal includes a warehouse equipped with a dehumidifier for the storage of steel products. Storage facilities are also available for materials such as aluminum, zinc, steel, paper, wood and pulp. The facilities further include a wide range of open storage areas, for example for RoRo cargo and containers.

In February 2025, the same Nova–Bolten–Ership partnership had acquired in Amsterdam the entire share capital of the Dutch company Maja Stuwadoors Groep B.V., thereby gaining full control of the Vlothaven bulk terminal in the Port of Amsterdam. This terminal is equipped with a 215-meter-long quay with a draft of −11.50 meters, suitable for the storage of numerous types of bulk cargo, as well as the warehouses operated by the company in the Dutch port. Both Amsterdam terminals will be integrated under the control of the holding Maja Stuwadoorsgroep B.V.
