Intellian Technologies, a leading global provider of satellite communication antennas and ground gateway solutions, has confirmed it has received Marine Equipment Directive  approval for its Iridium Certus® C700 GMDSS System. This includes retrospective approval, allowing existing C700 installations to be upgraded to SOLAS GMDSS capability with appropriate Flag State acceptance.

Designed to fully leverage the power of the Iridium Certus® GMDSS, the C700 system is the only GMDSS solution in the market designed to leverage the popular Iridium Certus 700 service, delivering Iridium® GMDSS, LRIT & SSAS plus dependable L-band connectivity for business data and voice services in a single terminal. This ensures constant connectivity and truly global coverage for vessels, even those operating in polar regions.

Existing C700 users will be able to upgrade to MED status by adding the Safety Display Terminal (SDT) and handset, whilst ensuring the installation complies with GMDSS requirements, enabling them to enhance safety without needing a full system replacement.

This update further demonstrates Intellian’s goal to serve as a single, integrated source for all maritime communications, enabling customers to acquire all their safety and satellite communications equipment from a single trusted partner.
