“K” Line , a Singapore-based subsidiary that is wholly owned by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha,, carried out “the Emergency Response Drill” on November 26, 2025, simulating a major fire drill was conducted involving M/V EUROPA BAY, a bulk carrier which is owned and operated by KLPL and managed by “K” Line RoRo Bulk Ship Management . The drill simulated a scenario where the vessel, while en route to Kaliorang, Indonesia, experienced a fire in the engine room. Despite the crew’s firefighting efforts, the fire escalated, leading to engine shutdown. The CO₂ firefighting system was activated to extinguish the fire, and the vessel was left drifting due to engine damage. KLPL established an accident response task force, discussed the response with KRBS, coordinated with internal and external parties and confirmed the information sharing system in order to verify the emergency response framework.
