The Cyprus Marine Club proudly hosted the exceptional event “From Sea to Sushi – Celebrating Seafaring and Flavor” at Gazebo Mare, drawing over 100 guests from across the maritime community. The evening combined professional insight with a hands-on culinary experience, offering attendees a perfect blend of learning, networking, and fine dining.

In the absence of the President, who was travelling, Mr. Loucas Hamatsos kindly assumed the President’s duties for the evening. On behalf of the Board, he welcomed all attendees and made several key announcements.

Mr. Hamatsos introduced the Club’s newest members: Cyprus Shipping Chamber and SHOHAM Corporate Member  as well as  Mar Pagador and Ilya Aristov    – Individual Members. With these additions, the Club’s membership has now grown to 162 members.

The Vice President further announced Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM)  booked for  2 December 2025.Following the short EGM, there will be a presentation and dinner featuring Mr. Dieter Rohdenburg, CEO of Intership Navigation, who will deliver an insightful talk titled “Carbon Capture On Board.”

Mr. Hamatsos also announced that the CMC New Year’s Gala Dinner will take place on 31 January 2026 at the Four Seasons Hotel. Registration will open in December, and members were  kindly asked to save the date for this highlight of the Club’s annual calendar.

The CMC November interactive event opened with a presentation by the Cyprus Maritime Academy (CYMA), delivered by Kyriakos Patsalides and Nicholas Kythreotis who highlighted the Academy’s latest and notable achievement—its accreditation by the Shipping Deputy Ministry to offer upgrading courses for Masters/Chief Mates and Chief Engineers/Second Engineers. This new authorization allows aspiring deck and engine officers to complete their professional advancement training at CYMA and progress to senior ranks on board. The development marks a significant milestone for maritime education in Cyprus and further strengthens the Academy’s role in supporting the growth of both the local and international maritime workforce.

Although H.E. Ms. Marina Hadjimanoli, Shipping Deputy Minister, was originally expected to attend, she was unfortunately unable to join due to unforeseen personal circumstances. However, several representatives from the Shipping Deputy Ministry (SDM) attended on her behalf, underlining the Ministry’s continued support for the sector.

Following the presentation, guests enjoyed an interactive sushi-making session, creating a relaxed and engaging atmosphere where maritime professionals connected over creativity and conversation.

The CMC Get Together demonstrated, yet another time,  the Club’s commitment to blending professional development with social engagement in a dynamic, forward-looking maritime community.
