Syroco reveals new Athens and London offices and welcomes three senior hires to meet rising voyage optimisation demand

The new offices bring local expertise and on-the-ground support for Syroco’s growing customer base in strategic maritime hubs as part of expansion plans across Europe
Climate tech specialist Syroco has officially opened new regional headquarters in Athens, Greece, and London, UK, strategically extending its presence across Europe to support rising demand for its AI-powered voyage optimisation platform.
The move, which is supported by three key new hires, follows the Marseille, France-based tech specialist’s €7.5 million Series A funding secured at the end of 2024. The funds are being used both to advance the development of its core Syroco Live platform and support the company’s accelerating commercial expansion, with new regional headquarters also opening in Hamburg, Germany earlier this year.

“Our growth comes as demand for voyage optimisation and weather routingsoftware continues to accelerate globally, with more and more shipping leaders embracing the power of digital solutions to transform their businesses and support their energy transition,” said Alex Caizergues, Co-Founder and CEO of Syroco.
“Expanding into Greece and the UK is a natural next step in our growth journey, ensuring we have local expertise and knowledge on the ground to better support our expanding customer base in new markets. This means our customers will benefit from even stronger support and tailored solutions, helping them to unlock greater efficiency and cost-effectiveness while achieving their sustainability goals.”
The new offices come as the company has also made three key hires to help facilitate commercial and regional growth.
Raphaël Chaussier joins as Vice President of Sales, leading Syroco’s commercial strategy and customer acquisition. He brings more than 11 years of experience in SaaS sales and go-to-market strategy, having held senior commercial roles in technology and fintech firms where he led revenue growth and customer expansion.
“I am incredibly energised to lead Syroco’s sales strategy at a pivotal moment of rapid expansion across crucial maritime markets,” said Raphaël Chaussier, Vice President of Sales. “My immediate focus is on strategically expanding our customer base while ensuring that each new deployment of Syroco Live not only delivers demonstrable performance enhancements but also translates into immediate and significant operational value for our clients.”

Ioannis Devetzoglou Toliou is Country Manager, Greece, overseeing business development and client engagement from the new Athens office, located in Marousi – a key district for the city’s maritime community. He brings more than six years of experience in the maritime and technology sectors, including roles at DeepSea Technologies, Plutofylax Shipping Corporation, and Erma First, where he focused on vessel performance, client development, and digital optimisation projects.
“Establishing a presence in Athens, one of the world’s foremost maritime hubs, is crucial for Syroco to foster deeper connections within Greece’s influential shipowning community,” said Ioannis Devetzoglou Toliou, Country Manager, Greece. “Our goal is to empower local and global fleets by leveraging Syroco Live, thereby significantly enhancing both the efficiency and compliance across their operations. This expansion underscores our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving demands of the global shipping industry.”
Andrew Cornish has been appointed Country Manager, UK, responsible for establishing the company’s presence in London and working closely with charterers and traders both in the UK and across continental Europe. He brings more than seven years of experience in the maritime and digital solutions sectors, including roles at AXSMarine and Rivertrace Limited, where he focused on business development, customer engagement, and fleet optimisation within the shipping and chartering markets.

“Our presence in the City of London is a strategic imperative, positioning Syroco at the heart of global shipping finance and chartering,” said Andrew Cornish, Country Manager, UK. “We are committed to empowering the market with advanced, data-driven voyage optimisation solutions that not only enhance commercial performance but also significantly contribute to environmental sustainability.”
Syroco Live is a voyage routing and weather optimisation platform designed to improve energy efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions of ships. The platform features an AI- and data-powered digital twin simulation of the actual ship using the service, which sails in parallel in real time.
The platform is able to compute hundreds of thousands of voyage options in just a few minutes, using AI-powered algorithms to select the most optimal route, bringing fuel savings that average at 10 per cent per voyage without increasing voyage time.
