Gasum, in cooperation with REMA, today opened a new biogas filling station for liquefied biogas (LBG) at REMA Distribution in Vinterbro. The station is now available to all operators with liquid biogas driven trucks.

The biogas station is located close to REMA Distribution’s warehouse in Vinterbro and is centrally located by the E6 and E18 roads south of Oslo. The station will meet the demand for biogas in the area, the location south of Oslo and proximity to the Oslofjord tunnel is desired by the market.

Gasum has cooperated with REMA, which has made the land for the station available. REMA has a significant number of biogas vehicles that collect cargo from the goods warehouse at Vinterbro. Being able to fill biogas here will save REMA time and extra driving to fill biogas. Although the station is located next to REMA distribution, it is available to everyone.

“REMA Distribution will replace all fossil owned transport capacity by the end of 2026 and all fossil leased transport capacity by the end of 2030. This establishment is an important step in achieving our goal of climate-neutral transport respectively by 2026 and 2030. This simplifies logistics for all our employees who drive biogas trucks and we make it possible for all our hired carriers to fill up at our warehouse, easily and efficiently. The use of biogas provides a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions

Gasum sees a growing interest in biogas among Norwegian transport companies, as biogas is a cost-effective alternative to reduce emissions and establish more environmentally friendly operations. The newly opened biogas station at Vinterbro offers liquid biogas, which is very suitable for those who need a long range and want climate cuts now.

Norway aims to reduce national emissions by at least 55% by 2030 and 70-75% by 2035. The transport sector accounts for 1/3 of CO2 emissions in Norway, where road transport accounts for approx. 50% of emissions. Cutting emissions in this sector is crucial to achieve the national climate goals.

The use of biogas results in a reduction of life cycle greenhouse gas emissions of 90% or more, compared to fossil fuels. In addition, vehicles running on biogas will improve local air quality through significantly lower emissions of nitrogen oxides compared to conventional fuels.
