The Cyprus Marine Club (CMC) held its October Get-Together at Gazebo Mare, Limassol Marina, bringing together members and industry professionals for an evening of networking, learning, and camaraderie.
The evening began with a warm welcome from the Club’s President acknowledging the bustling pace following Maritime Cyprus 2025 and setting a relaxed, engaging tone for the night.
The President proudly welcomed new Corporate Member – M&O Travel Management Company and 2 Individual Members: Mr. Iakovos Christofi – Interchart Shipping Co. Ltd & Mr. Michalis Taliots – Interchart Shipping Co. Ltd.
The gradual expansion of the Club strengthens the Club’s mission of fostering a dynamic maritime community that encourages collaboration, networking, and professional growth. The Club now counts 155 Members ( close to 500 Individuals)

The President also outlined the busy schedule for the remainder of 2025:
- 25–28 October 2025 – CMC participates in the International Sea Tourism Festival, Ayia Napa Marina, Booth No. 36. Theme: “Seas of Innovation | Where Sustainability Meets Opportunity.”
- 13 November 2025 – Presentation by Cyprus Maritime Academy (CYMA) on its newly accredited Promotional Academy Courses for deck officers advancing to Chief Mate and Master. This session will be followed by a hands-on sushi-making experience for members.
- 2 December 2025 – Presentation by Dieter Rohdenburg, InterMaritime Shipmanagement, followed by a short Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).
A preview of 2026 events was also shared. The full CMC programme is available at www.cyprusmarineclub.org.cy

The evening’s highlight was a presentation by Ms. Elena Tassioula, General Manager of BIMCO for Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, and Malta. Ms. Tassioula shared insightful perspectives on BIMCO’s role in shipping, including regulatory developments, training initiatives, and international industry trends.
“It was a great honour to be invited as a speaker at the Cyprus Marine Club event in Limassol. When BIMCO established its office in Athens six and a half years ago, our aim was to be closer to the maritime communities of Greece and Cyprus — two of our largest membership bases worldwide.
As the shipping industry continues to evolve amidst regulatory change and new challenges, BIMCO remains fully committed to supporting members across the region with practical tools, expert advice, and training through our contracts and clauses.”
Ms. Tassioula’s engaging presentation sparked a lively Q&A session, with contributions from Capt. Michael Elwert, COO of InterMaritime Shipmanagement and Mr. Kyriakos Kourieas, Commercial Director InterMaritime Shipmanagement; Member of BIMCO’s documentary committee.
The session provided attendees with practical insights into BIMCO’s role in the global shipping industry and fostered an open dialogue on key maritime challenges and opportunities.
