Technology company Prodevelop presented today at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) the results of its participation in the European project aerOS, an initiative under the Horizon Europe programme aimed at creating an intelligent infrastructure to digitalize and automate operations in ports and terminals.

The pilot, developed in collaboration with EUROGATE Container Terminal Limassol (Cyprus) and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), applies IoT, Edge Computing and Artificial Intelligence technologies to optimise asset management and operational safety in the Cypriot port.

The pilot focuses on two key use cases: predictive maintenance for container handling equipment (Straddle Carriers and Ship-To-Shore cranes) and risk prevention through computer vision at the edge, improving real-time efficiency and reducing the need for high-bandwidth data transmission.

The aerOS project (Autonomous, scalable, tRustworthy, intelligent European meta Operating System) aims to design an open and scalable architecture for the IoT– Edge–Cloud continuum, enabling the adoption of intelligent digital services in industrial environments, including European ports.
