Procureship, the maritime industry’s leading e-procurement platform provider, has partnered with Copenhagen-based climate data specialist ReFlow to launch a new Scope 3 emissions solution to enable ship owners, operators, and managers to prepare for new climate-related reporting requirements by mapping emissions across their procurement value chains.

As shipping stakeholders begin to respond to new requirements set out by the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), there is a greater need for documented data on the Scope 3 emissions of commercial vessels calling at EU ports. Consequently, demand is rising for increased transparency among maritime procurement professionals seeking to remain compliant.

This challenge is compounded by the growing complexity of modern procurement processes, with shipping companies purchasing thousands of products across dozens of vessels each year, often using hundreds of suppliers, most of whom lack the knowledge or data on the emissions associated with their supply chains.

The newly launched ‘EmissionPassport’ solution from Procureship and ReFlow now offers a convenient and structured way to collect product-level Scope 3 emissions data. Powered by a custom-built climate calculation engine, the solution, which is integrated directly into the Procureship platform, delivers verified, scientific Scope 3 emissions data without disrupting daily procurement workflows.

While climate data is not used to drive procurement decisions within the platform, EmissionPassport ensures that critical emissions insights are available and traceable across vessel-level activities, providing a valuable foundation for internal climate assessments and external reporting.

The EmissionPassport also supports alignment with emerging methodologies through collaboration with the International Marine Purchasing Association (IMPA) and its Maritime Environmental Footprint (IMEF) Initiative, working toward a shared climate data standard for maritime procurement.
