Canadian Pacific Kansas City  railway was awarded the prestigious Asian Freight and Logistics Award for Best Rail Logistics Service Provider for the fifth consecutive year after Asian shippers were balloted directly to select their best service providers.

Shipping and logistics leaders gathered at the Renaissance Hong Kong Harbour View Hotel on 3 September for a gala dinner overlooking Hong Kong’s world-famous waterfront. The event was organised by leading shipping and logistics publication Asia Cargo News.

The real value of the AFLAS is that the nomination and voting process allows more than 15,000 readers of Asia Cargo News and e-news subscribers to first determine the leading companies in the market and then determine the winners.

Doubling capacity at North America’s busiest rail border crossing

CPKC completed a US$100 million upgrade to the Patrick J. Ottensmeyer International Railway Bridge across the Rio Grande River, connecting Laredo, Texas, in the United States and Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, in Mexico.

The upgraded bridge now provides Asian shippers with faster access to the US market via CPKC’s cross-border services.

The Laredo crossing is North America’s busiest rail border crossing and features two tracks, allowing for simultaneous bidirectional train traffic. This doubles the capacity for freight movement compared to the previous single-track setup.

The new bridge includes a second track bridge, 4,500 feet of new track, and enhanced security measures like a VACIS X-ray railcar inspection system and surveillance cameras.
