Doosan Enerbility announced on Aug. 25 that it has secured a contract worth 560 billion won from Korea Gas for the construction of three liquefied natural gas  storage tanks in the second phase of the Dangjin project in South Chungcheong Province.

This construction, part of the Dangjin LNG Production Base project, is a follow-up to the first phase, which completed the roof-raising work last year. With this contract, Doosan Enerbility will be responsible for constructing three storage tanks and supplying auxiliary facilities. The company plans to commence construction in September this year and complete it by December 2029.

Through this contract, Doosan Enerbility will be constructing a total of seven storage tanks for the Dangjin LNG project. Doosan Enerbility was selected as the contractor for the first phase (Tanks 1-4) in 2021 and is currently carrying out the construction. For the first phase, roof-raising work has been completed for all four tanks, and internal construction is now underway.

The Dangjin LNG storage tank construction is part of the LNG production base project being pursued to enhance domestic LNG supply stability at the Seokmu National Industrial Complex site. Doosan Enerbility has previously carried out LNG storage tank construction projects at Incheon, Pyeongtaek, and Samcheok bases.

Lee Hyun-ho, head of Doosan Enerbility’s Plant EPC BG, said, “Our successful experience in numerous LNG storage tank projects in the domestic market was instrumental in securing this contract.” He added, “Along with the first phase of Dangjin, we will diligently carry out the second phase project to contribute to improving the stability of domestic natural gas supply.”
