Dublin Port has played host to a freight delivery that’s more Rock ‘N’ Roll Star than your standard roll-on/roll-off. The iconic Oasis stage setup, fresh from Wembley, has arrived ahead of two massive shows at Croke Park this weekend.

Stadium concerts are a major logistical operation. For major tours like this, two full sets of staging leapfrog across cities to keep the show rolling. Last week, the Oasis stage was dismantled at Wembley Stadium in London and travelled 570km to Dublin, transported by truck and ferry via Holyhead and Birkenhead, arriving at Dublin Port before continuing on to Croke Park.

These blockbuster gigs are more than just a good time – they deliver a serious economic boost. Last year, spending in the capital rose by 17% as Dublin welcomed Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. It remains to be seen what kind of uplift fans of the Gallagher brothers will bring.

As the gateway for the tonnes of gear that power these massive cultural moments, Dublin Port – together with its operators, logistics partners, and state services – helps ensure that thousands of fans can experience the biggest acts on the planet, right here in the heart of Dublin.

Claire Percy, Head of External Affairs at Dublin Port commented: “About €165million worth of trade comes through Dublin Port each year, supporting every aspect of the Irish economy, including live entertainment. People don’t often think about how stages, lighting and sound get from stadium to stadium, but here we are at the heart of this rock ‘n roll relay.

“Each year, we see dozens of stages come through our berths, and we also know that many people use the ferry routes to travel to and from important sporting and musical events on both sides of the Irish Sea. Dublin Port has a crucial role in bringing once-in-a-lifetime experiences to Ireland, and taking Irish talent to the world.

Chesire-based WS Specialist Logistics has been contracted to move the Oasis stage for the UK and Ireland tour. Operations Director Rob Courtney said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Star Live on the Oasis tour.

“In total, 26 loads will make their way to Dublin via Holyhead and Birkenhead, delivering a hugely sophisticated setup – the main screen alone spans an incredible 85 metres.

“Our drivers and staff have been working tirelessly, navigating height restrictions, road closures, and a host of logistical challenges to quite literally keep the show on the road. For the Croke Park show, we had the added complication of crossing the Irish Sea, so it’s a fantastic moment to finally roll into Dublin Port for what feels like the band’s second homecoming.”

Meanwhile, lighting, sound, and specialist equipment made the journey from Scotland via Larne, clocking in at 465km, and will exit through Dublin thanks to Fly By Nite.

Fly By Nite’s Director, Eddie Charlton, added: “Moving shows like Oasis is no mean feat, with staging and lighting travelling between cities across the UK and Ireland. We expect that more than 100 local crew will be employed to set up the stage, lighting, and sound for each concert.

“The Taylor Swift Eras Tour concerts last year were the largest we’ve ever moved – over 100 trucks carrying lighting, sound, merchandise, costumes, and staging. It was incredibly bespoke and unlike anything else we’ve transported.”

Now, with the stage assembled, lights blazing, and soundchecks echoing through the stadium, Dublin is ready to Live Forever – or at least for two unforgettable nights.
