Through its data-driven approach, the company has launched two new innovative reporting features: the Nutritional Values Report and the Carbon Emissions Report, allowing companies to monitor closely the nutritional values and emissions from galley operations.

These new reporting features reflect MCTC’s strategic commitment to digital innovation, crew wellbeing, and environmental responsibility, delivering full transparency through real-time data visualisation and actionable reporting.

Food quality and crew wellbeing have long been a concern in the maritime industry. Seafarers have consistently expressed dissatisfaction with onboard meals—highlighting a lack of nutritional value, unhealthy cooking methods, and repetitive menus. In response, MCTC has launched a bold, data-driven initiative that redefines how nutrition and sustainability are managed at sea.

Through its innovative platform, MCTC offers direct access to detailed nutritional information and provides training in healthy cooking methods. This allows cooks not only to create well-rounded menus but also to foster healthier eating habits among seafarers.

The Nutritional Values Report is a comprehensive tool that enables tracking of calorie intake and nutritional breakdowns across daily, monthly, and yearly periods. The report benchmarks daily nutrient intake against internationally recognised Reference Daily Intake (RDI) standards and includes:

• A breakdown of calorie intake per person, per day
• Insight into macro- and micronutrients in each meal
• Allocation of nutrition data per product used

The platform empowers Chief Cooks to make informed decisions when designing menus, ensuring that all major food groups are represented and that meals meet nutritional standards.

The company is also leading the way in environmental transparency with its Carbon Emissions Report. This tool monitors the CO₂ emissions associated with each provisioned item using a weighted global average that factors in country-specific variables such as production methods, feed types, deforestation, irrigation, and transportation.

Key dashboard features include CO₂ per vessel, order, and product, timeline of emissions per vessel and per person, identification of top emission-contributing products, as well as support for ESG and Scope 3 emission tracking.
