LR appoints Edward Koo as Strategic Business Partner and senior responsible person for Hong Kong

Experienced maritime industry professional brings extensive shipping operations and technical expertise to strengthen LR’s strategic client relationships in Hong Kong.
Lloyd’s Register has announced the appointment of Edward Koo as its new Strategic Business Partner and Senior Responsible Person for Hong Kong.
In his new role, Edward will lead LR’s strategic client relationship management for the region’s most influential maritime clients while serving as the senior representative for LR in Hong Kong.
Edward’s appointment strengthens LR’s commitment to delivering exceptional client-focused services across the Hong Kong maritime sector, with particular emphasis on building multi-level relationships with strategic accounts.
Commenting on his new role, Edward Koo said: “I am excited to join LR at such a critical moment in the history of the shipping industry. The sector faces increasing complexity due to emerging environmental regulations, evolving technologies, and longstanding traditions that are fundamental to maritime heritage. I look forward to collaborating with key stakeholders in Hong Kong and across the broader shipping community to develop value-added solutions for navigating these unprecedented challenges.”
Andrew McKeran, Chief Commercial Officer, LR, added: “Edward’s appointment demonstrates LR’s strategic commitment to investing in senior leadership talent that understands our clients’ businesses. His extensive background in shipping operations, combined with his proven track record in strategic relationship management, positions him perfectly to drive growth and deliver exceptional value for our Hong Kong clients.”
Edward brings over a decade of maritime industry experience to LR. Most recently, he served as Group Chief Operations Officer at Tai Chong Cheang Steamship Co. (TCC), where he led the commercial and technical operations for the company’s bulker and tanker fleets.
Edward also led the company’s R&D project developing proprietary emission reduction technology for existing and newbuilding vessels. Prior to joining TCC, Edward worked as an IT Operations Business Analyst at Chevron corp., supporting pricing operations for finished products at owned and franchised global gasoline stations.
