PSA Antwerp and Lineas launch a new rail service link between Zeebrugge and Antwerp

Since 2 June 2025, a direct train now runs three times a week between the PSA Terminal in Zeebrugge and the PSA North Sea Terminal in Antwerp. Lineas is responsible for the entire operation of the train.
After arriving in Antwerp, the train also stops at the Lineas MainHub. This is a hub for further distribution within Belgium and to the European hinterland. Lineas and PSA ensure maximum use of the train by collecting empty containers and consolidating export cargo here.
‘’ This new rail link will transport 26,000 TEU between Zeebrugge and Antwerp per year.’’
Edward Tah,Managing Director, PSA Belgium
The service is designed as an open product: all logistics players can use this rail link to optimise their cargo flows. So the link also offers alternative options from the platform in Antwerp to use existing capacity more efficiently.
Supplement to estuary shipping
The new rail link supplements existing transport options, such as estuary shipping, between Zeebrugge and Antwerp. For example, inland shipping operator WeBarge took over PortConnect in late 2024. It acquired two estuary vessels and PortConnect’s remaining fleet in the process. WeBarge also had a new estuary ship, Seaford, built to meet the increasing demand for estuary shipping.
One network, multiple options
Rail and inland navigation services work together to provide robust, flexible connections between Zeebrugge and Antwerp. Firms get the freedom to make transport choices that fit their supply chain, with a focus on reliability, sustainability and efficiency.
