The Kansai Branch Office, which is descended from OSK Line, has many occasions to host visitors from companies and government agencies in the Hanshin region. The Branch Office was renovated and relocated to serve as a “touchdown” office for executives and employees and to promote broader communication, as part of the MOL Group’s human capital initiative.

Since its establishment in 1884, OSK Line revered Sumiyoshitaisha shrine, which enshrines the god of the sea, affectionately called “Sumiyossan” by local residents. It has long served as a standing representative of the shrine, maintaining a branch shrine in its head office. The MOL Kansai Branch Office has taken over the branch shrine. In this relocation, the shrine was restored by Kongo Gumi Co., Ltd., the world’s oldest corporation, dating back more than 1,400 years.

Special guests on hand to celebrate the new voyage of the Kansai Branch Office included Lord Chief Shinto Priest of Sumiyoshitaisha Shrine Yasushi Oka, Kongo Gumi Co., Ltd. President Junichiro Otsuki, and government officials.

In the Kansai region, our group operates a wide range of businesses, including real estate services provided by Daibiru Corporation, ferry services offered by MOL Sunflower Ltd., as well as logistics, port operations, tugboat services, maritime consulting, and trading operations.

In addition to the zero-emission vessel interactive attraction exhibited at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, the MOL Museum “Funeshiru,” featuring hands-on and interactive displays, is scheduled to open in Osaka on July 19, creating new ways for people in Kansai to learn more about MOL and the shipping industry.

Taking this relocation as an opportunity, MOL will proactively pursue the three basic policies of its domestic regional strategy—strengthening existing businesses, developing new customers and businesses, and contributing to the local community—in the Kansai region, the birthplace of the company.
