PETRONAS Lubricants International signs collaboration agreement with Glide Technology for Insulating Oil, supports rising energy needs

With national power consumption projected to rise steadily for the next decade, PETRONAS Lubricants International and local lubricants manufacturer Glide Technology Sdn Bhd have inked a collaboration agreement. The lubricant providers will partner on the distribution of premium insulating oils under the name PETRONAS Tranol Glide.
Insulating oils are crucial in the operation of transformers, which form the core of power substations. The PETRONAS Tranol Glide Uninhibited and Inhibited insulating oils are tailored to meet international standards while withstanding demanding operational conditions.
Khalil Muri, Managing Director and Group CEO of PLI shared, “PETRONAS Lubricants International’s proven expertise and capabilities in delivering high-quality industrial solutions and products enables us to support Malaysia’s industrial sector, which continues to see an upward trajectory over the decades. The PETRONAS Tranol Glide range is designed to maintain and enhance power systems performance, which is critical to future industrial growth.”
GLIDE, a homegrown lubricants manufacturer with facilities located in Shah Alam, Selangor is a supplier to utility companies and transformer manufacturers. In this partnership with PLI, GLIDE will be manufacturing PETRONAS Tranol Glide at their facilities for distribution in the country.
Speaking about the partnership, Dato’ Hj. Muhazli Bin Hj. Muhamad, President of Glide Group of Companies said, “This partnership agreement with PETRONAS Lubricants International marks a pivotal chapter in GLIDE’s growth and transformation journey. It validates our present market and technical capability, deepens our role in the national energy ecosystem, and reinforces our commitment to supporting Malaysia’s industrial development with world-quality, locally produced insulating oil solutions.”
In line with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), Malaysia aims to double its renewable energy (RE) capacity by 2050. Combined with the energy demands of upcoming data centre investments, the safety, efficiency and longevity of power equipment will become a more pertinent issue than ever. Malaysian SMEs, backed by visionary leadership and strategic alliances, will be ready to support growth and compete at the highest levels.
