Therefore, we are putting forward my candidacy for the board of WindEurope. This decision is grounded in Port Esbjerg’s many years of experience in the wind industry and our continuous efforts to develop and operate infrastructure, as well as to strengthen collaboration across the entire value chain and across national borders. In this context, the Ports Platform working group in WindEurope serves as a forum that leads to concrete actions.

It is essential that we look beyond our national borders and collaborate more closely if we are to succeed. This will help establish the stability and predictability that the industry is seeking.

We must also expand the existing grid to accommodate the increasing supply of renewable energy that is in growing demand. In addition, we need large-scale investment in planning and developing a shared European grid that can connect the high activity levels in, for example, the North Sea with the rest of Europe.

In challenging times, the key word is resilience. That is why we need collective investment in building a strong European supply chain composed of European companies that can create jobs, drive innovation, and attract investment.

From the port’s perspective, we experience firsthand how wind turbines and projects continue to increase in scale. This is a positive development, but it also puts pressure on port capacity. Many European ports are already operating at or near full capacity. Our skilled colleagues across Europe are doing everything they can to optimise operations, implement innovative solutions, and coordinate across borders.

This calls for integrated planning, strategic investment and a unified approach to expanding the grid, strengthening the supply chain and scaling port operations and capacity, so we can successfully deliver even more projects in both offshore and onshore wind.

At Port Esbjerg, we are committed to playing our part in delivering on the agreement.
