Nicos Attas is a well-known maritime professional in Cyprus. He holds a Master’s degree (Diplom-Ingenieur) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany. He has extensive experience in the certification and classification of ships and offshore structures as well as with the implementation of IMO ship safety and pollution prevention requirements and regulations.

Nicos Attas is the Marine Manager of Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) in Cyprus, one of the leading IACS classification societies and he is responsible for all marine and commercial activities of the Society in Cyprus.

In his long-standing career, besides working for RINA, he served for many years in a managerial position with the Cyprus Maritime Administration in the field of ship safety and protection of the marine environment, where he represented Cyprus in various committees within IMO and EMSA.
