Prevention at Sea (PAS) held its first Annual Forum at the Four Seasons Hotel in Limassol on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, bringing together industry leaders and distinguished guests. This year’s theme, “The Safe Path to Compliance,” provided the foundation for insightful discussions and forward-looking perspectives on maritime safety and compliance.

The event began with a morning conference in the ‘Summit Room,’ which was well attended by participants from the Cyprus Maritime Industry and beyond. The day concluded with a festive Cocktail Reception, adding a touch of holiday cheer and rounding off a successful and engaging event.

The conference included engaging presentations, thought-provoking discussions, and networking opportunities.

Petros Achtypis, CEO and Founder of PAS, warmly welcomed attendees and expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event, including behind-the-scenes teams and Guest Speakers, whose thought leadership enriched the proceedings.

The Guest Speaker lineup featured prominent voices from the maritime sector:

• Constantina Sardini, Human Element & Behavioral Expert at Prevention at Sea provided a brief keynote address on the Human Element Factor at Prevention at Sea, highlighting the importance of people in ensuring Safety and Excellence in Maritime Operations.
• Ian McLeod, Managing Director at the Dry Bulk Centre of Excellence, gave a very insightful talk on DryBMS, referencing it as “a new era, and a game-changing development in the dry bulk shipping industry”.
• Stavi Kamakari, Lead Maritime Advisor at PAS took everyone through data-driven compliance and insights, showing how data is revolutionizing the way we approach maritime operations.
• Panagiotis Nikiteas, HSQE Manager at Maran Dry Management, addressed the latest developments in the dry bulk shipping industry. With years of experience in the industry Capt. Nikiteas shared his perspective on the current challenges and opportunities.
• Christos Georgiou, Product, Head of Product Management at PAS discussed the new era of digital logbooks and their role in the maritime industry.

Mr. Petros Achtypis closed the conference with a talk on the added value of Virtual Reality in maritime training. Mr. Achtypis’ closing statement was to thank and send warm best wishes to all the Seafarers that will be on duty at sea during the holiday period, away from their loved ones.
