Mitsui O.S.K. Lines,  announced that on December 5, it signed a business alliance agreement with PT MCS Internasional, an Indonesian company engaged in management and training of seafarers, that will bring specified skilled workers to Japan. The alliance will focus on sending drivers from Indonesia, aiming to create employment opportunities for young Indonesians and help alleviate a severe shortage of drivers in Japan.

Leveraging the experience and knowledge MOL has cultivated over many years in the training of foreign seafarers, it is developing a foreign human resources (HR) consulting business that introduces foreign personnel to Japanese companies that are considering hiring foreign employees or expanding their hiring programs. (Note 2) The alliance between the two companies—MOL, which offers a wide range of HR consulting services based on its experience in recruiting and training foreign seafarers, and MCSI, which has assigned Indonesian seafarers and sent personnel to other countries, will leverage the strengths of both companies, while connecting workers and companies across borders and creating new employment opportunities for young Indonesians, addressing Japan’s growing labor shortage, and the revitalizing local communities by bringing in foreign workers.
